STORM APPROACHING SC COAST
|
|
To our nonprofit friends and colleagues along the coast:
As you are likely already aware, a storm system (currently dubbed "94L") is tracking towards the South Carolina coast. It is expected to become a named tropical system, Imelda, over the next few days.
While its path is not certain at the moment, impacts along our coastline, and inland, are increasingly likely.
We want to be sure you have access to some basic tools in advance of the storm and know that we at Together SC are here to be a resource. Below are some quick tools you can access to be ready.
Stay Updated:
- SC Emergency Management Division: Bookmark SCEMD's website, and download their great mobile app, for resources on preparedness, closings, and storm updates.
- Ready.gov: Visit this website to prepare a plan for your home and business and find valuable information on resources that may become available should a storm hit SC.
- Follow the Forecast: The following sources are invaluable in tracking the weather forecast in your area:
Reach Out:
If your organization needs any help in connecting to resources, finding out how to plug into your local VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Activated in Disaster) if you are offering disaster-related services, or if you have any other questions -- please feel free to reach out to our team. |
|
If you are interested in being a volunteer at a local nonprofit, explore our new system, VolunteerSC.org. It is a database of organizations and individuals to help pair those willing to volunteer with organizations offering those opportunities. The opportunities to volunteer will vary by community, but this is yet another way to be prepared to serve and offer the opportunity to serve.

What We're Doing:
Together SC is in communication with a number of partners deeply involved in our state's disaster preparedness and response infrastructure, including many of our members in your county and various state agencies.
While we don't intend on filling your inbox - we recommend getting updates directly from your county emergency management departments or other official authorities - we will provide relevant updates as we are able to. As the path of the storm becomes better defined, we may also condense additional outreach to the counties set to be impacted.
