As we recognize Black History Month, we honor the leadership, impact, and lasting contributions of Black nonprofit leaders across SC. Black leaders have played key roles in shaping the vision, strength, and progress of the nonprofit sector, often navigating systemic barriers with courage, clarity, and purpose. Together SC and the Black Nonprofit Leaders Group are committed to celebrating and supporting Black leaders not just this month, but year-round.
This February, we invite members of the Black Nonprofit Leaders Peer Network to join us in meaningful connections and conversation, including our virtual discussion, “Exploring Compensation & Its Impact on Black Philanthropy,” on February 24. We also look ahead to moments of celebration, including a special gathering at the 2026 SC Nonprofit Summit and the 2026 Joyce G. Ford Black Leader of the Year Award.
This month, we encourage all nonprofit leaders across SC to celebrate Black History Month within their own networks. Take time to uplift Black leaders on your teams, partner with Black-led organizations, attend or host local events, and share stories that honor the history and impact of Black leadership in your region. Small, intentional actions, whether a spotlight in your newsletter, a community conversation, or a moment of reflection with your staff, can create meaningful recognition and lasting connection.
We are grateful for the leaders who show up, share openly, and strengthen South Carolina’s nonprofit network. February is an opportunity not only to reflect, but to actively celebrate, learn, and invest in one another.
Happy Black History Month!
For a stronger South Carolina,
