Professional Bio

Carla Simon Angus, born and raised in Lake City, SC, received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Upon graduation, Carla began a 15-year career in education serving as a classroom teacher, athletic coach, vice-principal, principal and curriculum coordinator. In 2012, Carla had the opportunity to utilize her talents and management skills and started a consulting business called Transforming Minds. As a consultant and coach, she has had the wonderful opportunity to work with several schools, nonprofit organizations, and individuals to help them work towards their full potential. Carla strives to give back to her community. Recently, she expanded her business and opened Next Phase Development. Next Phase Development is a cohort located in Lake City, SC that offers office rental space and community event space.

Carla is the Founder/Executive Director of Dramatic Coffee Beans (DCB). DCB is a youth development organization, designed to help students deal with a variety of life challenges by conducting innovative learning experiences while incorporating the performing arts. She also serves as the Chair for the Lake City Boys & Girls Club, serves as a board member of the Pee Dee Area Boys & Girls Club and Florence County Circle Park Behavioral Health Services.

Carla currently resides in Florence, SC, with her husband, Dr. Josh Angus, and their two boys, Noah (15) and Nylan (12).
