2020 summit squad scholarships

What is the Summit Squad?

The Summit Squad is a group of nonprofit leaders who have committed to help Together SC ensure the critical success of this year’s SC Nonprofit Summit by keeping the event running smoothly and efficiently. Summit Squad members are scholarship recipients who help set up and manage registration, sessions, site visits and/or AV needs throughout the entire event.

Why do we have the Summit Squad?

The Summit Squad aims to provide nonprofit leaders with limited financial resources in order to attend the Summit, as well as provides Together SC the necessary support to be able to keep the event costs down, which translates to a lower registration fee for all attendees.

Who is eligible for the Summit Squad?

The primary focus for Summit Squad members is on Nonprofit A members (organizations with a budget under $750K) with priority given to long-time members and those who are located in areas without other scholarship resources. The applicant’s organization must be a current member of Together SC at the time of application and during the Nonprofit Summit. Organizations are limited to two recipients each year but can add up to two additional applications on a waitlist. Selected organization will not be eligible for any additional scholarship opportunities for the Summit in the same year.

Applicants will be asked what they aim to learn at the Summit, which will be a factor in the determination of acceptance. Applicant must commit to one of the following: 1) donate a laptop and projector that work together for the entire duration of the Summit (partial components are not accepted) OR 2) volunteer a minimum of 8 to 9 hours over the course of the entire Summit (volunteer hours vary on daily schedule and assignment).

Volunteers may request to have their hours divided into several shifts and/or days if scheduling allows. While Sunday volunteers will still receive full scholarship benefits with this shorter shift, they must agree to be “on call” if there is a last-minute cancellation.

What is the deadline?

Applications for full scholarships will be available when registration for the Summit begins with a deadline of mid-January each year. If the deadline passes and there is still a need for volunteers, Together SC will consider the waiting list (if any) and/or promote partial scholarship opportunities to ensure all shifts are covered for the entire event by mid-February each year.

Applicants will be advised of their acceptance status by mid-December each year. Any additional needed applicants will be reviewed and provided with status as quickly as possible upon receipt.

Where will assignments be?

Summit Squad members will be assigned according to the daily Nonprofit Summit schedule for the following areas: registration, keynotes, site visits, and breakout sessions.
