South Carolina Nonprofit Leaders Convene at State House to Engage Lawmakers on Sector Priorities

Posted By: Brooke Robertson Nonprofits Get It Done,

Together SC will bring nonprofit leaders from across the state to the South Carolina State House on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, for its annual Nonprofits at the State House event—an advocacy-focused gathering designed to connect nonprofit professionals directly with state legislators.

Held at the Blatt Building on State House grounds, the event will feature a Legislative Breakfast followed by opportunities for attendees to engage with lawmakers, observe legislative proceedings, and celebrate volunteerism across South Carolina.

This annual convening reflects Together SC’s commitment to advancing nonprofit voices through advocacy, connection, and partnership.

“Nonprofits play a critical role in strengthening communities across South Carolina,” said GP McLeer, Director of Public Policy & Community Engagement, Together SC. “This event makes sure that elected officials know their local nonprofit leaders, and those leaders have the ability to share how their vital work is impacted by public policy.”

Event Highlights:

·  Legislative Breakfast (8:00 AM)
Nonprofit professionals will have the opportunity to meet legislators as they arrive for the day’s session, fostering informal and impactful conversations around sector priorities.

· Governor’s Volunteer Awards (10:30 AM)
Presented in partnership with the South Carolina Service Commission, this public ceremony recognizes outstanding volunteerism across the state.

· Legislative Visits (11:00 AM )
Attendees are encouraged to continue engagement by visiting legislators’ offices, attending committee meetings, or observing proceedings from the public gallery.

Brief remarks from Together SC staff and board members will be shared throughout the morning, while the majority of the event will prioritize relationship-building and direct engagement with elected officials. Participants will also receive advance materials outlining key sector-wide issues impacting South Carolina nonprofits.

This event is made possible thanks to the generous support of Habitat for Humanity of South Carolina, Blackbaud, AmeriCorps, and the United Way Association of South Carolina, along with Together SC’s Visionary Sponsors: BlueCross BlueShield, Google, and The Duke Endowment.
