Member Dues Update FAQs - Together SC

Membership Dues Update

Together SC’s Board of Directors has approved updates to the organization’s membership structure and dues for 2027. These changes are designed to clarify membership categories, maintain affordability, and support continued investment in the resources, learning opportunities, connections and benefits available to members.

Together SC has held membership rates steady while continuing to expand member value. We also know nonprofit budgets remain stretched, so these changes have been approached carefully and will not affect every member.

For Nonprofit Members, Consultant Members and Agency Partners, the updated structure takes effect January 1, 2027.

For Corporate Allies, the updated structure takes effect July 1, 2027.

Because Together SC operates on a rolling membership year, the new rate will apply when an affected member renews on or after the applicable effective date.

No.

Most members will see a change in their annual dues based on their membership category, organizational revenue or number of employees. Others will remain at their existing rate.

Members whose dues or membership category are affected will receive direct communication from Together SC explaining their specific change and when it will take effect.

Together SC has expanded the resources, learning opportunities, Peer Networks, connections and benefits available to members while holding membership rates steady.

The updated structure is intended to:

  • maintain affordable access to membership

  • create greater equity across organizations of different sizes

  • clarify the distinction between membership categories

  • allow Together SC to continue investing in the programs, resources and support members rely on

Together SC has also intentionally kept other major member costs, including 2027 SC Nonprofit Summit registration, from increasing.

Nonprofit membership dues are based on the organization’s annual revenue, excluding in-kind contributions, as reported to the IRS and/or South Carolina Secretary of State for the previous reporting year.

The revised structure adjusts select revenue tiers, including consolidating the lowest tier so that nonprofit membership begins at $100 annually.

Together SC reviewed the current dues structure alongside organizational size, member engagement and the reach of membership within organizations.

The updated structure is intended to keep membership affordable for small and midsized nonprofits while creating greater equity among organizations with significantly different financial capacity and organizational reach.

The changes are targeted rather than an across-the-board increase.

Affected members will receive a direct email from Together SC with:

  • their current membership rate

  • their new membership rate

  • their regular renewal date

Your renewal invoice will also reflect the applicable membership rate.

If you believe Together SC has incorrect annual revenue, employee-count or organizational information on file, please contact membership@togethersc.org.

Members enrolled in automatic payment whose dues are changing will receive advance notice before the new amount is charged.

The notice will include your:

Current annual dues

New annual dues

Scheduled renewal date

If you have questions about your automatic renewal or payment method, please contact membership@togethersc.org before the scheduled renewal date.

Yes.

Together SC will continue to send renewal information approximately 30 days before payment is due. Your billing contact will receive an invoice and information about the applicable membership rate.

Members whose dues are changing will also receive communication before that invoice so the new amount is not a surprise.

Nonprofit Members

The updated nonprofit structure maintains the existing dues approach based on annual organizational revenue while making targeted adjustments to some revenue tiers.

The lowest nonprofit dues tier is also being consolidated so that nonprofit membership begins at $100 annually.

No.

Many nonprofit members will remain at their existing rate. The primary adjustments are concentrated in specific revenue tiers.

If your organization is affected, Together SC will contact you directly.

Please update your organization’s information in Member Compass under the “Company” section. This section is only visible to members who have management access to your organization’s account. You can also contact membership@togethersc.org.

Nonprofit dues are based on the organization’s annual revenue reported for the previous year, so accurate information helps ensure your organization is placed in the correct tier.

Consultant Members

Beginning January 1, 2027, Consultant membership will more clearly apply to individuals and firms that primarily provide person-to-person professional consulting services to nonprofit organizations.

The updated Consultant structure is:

4 or fewer full-time employees — $250 annually

5 or more full-time employees — $500 annually

One of the goals of the membership update is to make the distinction between Consultants and Corporate Allies easier to understand.

Consultant membership is designed for professionals and firms providing direct consultative services, while companies primarily providing products, technology or software may fit more appropriately within Corporate Ally membership.

Please contact membership@togethersc.org.

We are happy to review your organization’s work with you and determine which membership category is the best fit.

Please let us know.

Because Consultant dues are based in part on the number of full-time employees, keeping that information current ensures that your business is placed in the correct membership tier.

Corporate Allies

Together SC is clarifying this membership category as Corporate Allies and maintaining a separate structure for businesses and corporate entities that support or engage with South Carolina’s nonprofit sector.

Corporate Ally membership will continue to have multiple dues tiers based on organizational size/revenue.

Corporate Ally changes will take effect July 1, 2027, rather than January 1.

Current corporate members will receive additional information well in advance of the effective date, including their membership category, annual dues and renewal timing.

The later implementation date provides current corporate partners additional advance notice and allows Together SC to communicate individually with affected organizations before the new structure takes effect.

Membership Value

Membership helps Together SC continue providing statewide opportunities for nonprofit professionals and partners to:

  • connect through Peer Networks and convenings

  • access workshops and professional development

  • share and find nonprofit resources

  • build relationships across South Carolina’s nonprofit sector

  • participate in the SC Nonprofit Summit and other member opportunities

  • receive member pricing and discounts

  • strengthen the collective nonprofit network across the state

Together SC will also continue adding and expanding member resources and opportunities in 2027.

Yes. Together SC membership is designed to provide value across the member organization, not only to one primary contact.

We encourage organizations to add eligible staff members to their membership profiles so more employees can access member communications, Peer Networks, learning opportunities, resources and member benefits.

We want members to understand exactly how these changes apply to their organization.
