Nonprofit Leaders call with Dan Ellzey of SC Dept of Employment & Workforce

Tuesday, May 12, 2020
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (EDT)
Category: Speaking Together

With leadership from United Way of the Midlands, and in collaboration with the SC Grantmakers Network, and the United Way Association of SC, Together SC is pleased to host SC DEW's Dan Ellzey.

The call will be facilitated by Sara Fawcett (United Way of the Midlands), as Dan joins us for a conversation with nonprofit, community and philanthropic leaders. This is an executive-oriented call and is most appropriate for high-level staff.

We will focus on the issues our state faces with significant Covid-19 related unemployment that is averaging 16-19% currently. It will offer a window into the current and future workforce situation for South Carolina.

Nationally, the unemployment rate rose to 14.7% in April, according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (pdf). That rate, and the 10.3% increase from March, represented the highest rate and the highest month-over-month increase since the Bureau began collecting data in 1948!

We will cover:

  • Current Unemployment Conditions, Demographics and Trends
  • Partnering to Meet Immediate Needs
  • Partnering to Get People Back to Work

Register and Join us Tuesday, May 12th

11:00 am to 12:00 pm
The lines will open at 10:45. We will start the meeting right at 11:00am.
