Professional Bio

Najeema Davis Washington is an award-winning leader in environmental justice and community-driven research, serving as Community Research Director of the Charleston Community Research to Action Board (CCRAB). With more than 20 years of experience across public policy, government accountability, and strategic communications, she specializes in equipping communities with the tools to turn lived experience into data-informed action.

At CCRAB, Najeema leads citizen science initiatives that center resident voices in air quality monitoring, public health research, and environmental advocacy. She oversees organizational strategy, partnerships, and communications while building equitable systems rooted in transparency and accountability. A former federal auditor and program evaluator with the U.S. Government Accountability Office, she brings rigorous oversight and policy expertise to grassroots research efforts.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Spelman College with a Master of Public Administration from UNC Chapel Hill, Najeema is committed to building collective power through data, leadership, and community action.
