Professional Bio
Leah Wicevic graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After working several years in the nonprofit field, she came to Sistercare in 2009 as the organization’s Grants and Major Donor Development Manager. Since then, she has held many leadership roles at Sistercare, including two Director-level positions. Leah was honored to accept the Executive Director position in June 2023 and remains dedicated to the domestic violence survivors and children served, outstanding staff, and loyal volunteer and community supporters.
Her Sistercare accomplishments include:
Instrumental in 61% increase in organizational budget since start of employment due to growth in grant programs, donor base, public relations efforts, and community engagement.
Significantly involved in developing innovative and vision-minded programs and job positions including the Hospital Accompaniment Response Team Program, Rapid Rehousing Program, Teen Outreach Program, Health Services Coordinators, Substance Use Disorder Counselor, and Crisis Line Coordinator.
Expanded communications and social media strategy and grew online presence to over 9,800 followers.
Wrote, managed, and reported on grants from 110 unique federal, state, local, and private sources and submitted approximately 730 grants since 2009.
Developed new branding and website in 2015 and re-developed website in 2022.
Facilitated the development and execution of an e-newsletter.
Secured over $1,556,000 in COVID-19 funding which allowed Sistercare to continue serving clients and prevented staff layoffs or furloughs.
