Professional Bio
Laura Gould is a remarkable leader in volunteer engagement who truly believes that people are an organization’s most valuable resource. She knows that in the nonprofit world, revenue alone isn’t enough—a dollar can’t read to a child, comfort a patient, or deliver supplies. Volunteers bring the human piece to impact work, turning dollars into impact and impact into a movement. The Volunteer Center serves as the bridge between donors and the work happening in the community, fueling the mission and connecting people to meaningful service.
As Community Engagement Manager with United Way of the Midlands, Laura leads mission-driven projects, strengthens volunteer infrastructure, and co-led the revitalization of the Volunteer Center, driving record volunteer engagement and creating scalable programs that empower both volunteers and nonprofit partners. She is happy to be serving as co-chair of the leadership team for the Volunteer Administration Alliance and is passionate about inspiring, equipping, and empowering—and learning from—South Carolina’s volunteer management professionals.
