Professional Bio

Rev. Kara Stewart, Executive Director of Tricounty Family Ministries, is an ordained pastor in the Lutheran church (ELCA). She has served congregations in Charleston and Summerville, SC and Flagstaff, AZ and as Campus Pastor at Texas Lutheran University.
Kara is passionate about helping people discern their gifts and how they are uniquely positioned to help people in need. She has worked with many organizations to hone their mission and align their operations around that focus. She is especially committed to providing opportunities for people to gather together to build relationships and develop respect, so that real solutions to community problems can be created through collaboration and partnership.
Kara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. She is a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher-200 hours, a trained Contemplative Prayer Group Leader with the Shalem Institute, and regularly leads retreats for groups of all sizes.
