Together SC launches educational program for South Carolina nonprofit leaders
Columbia, SC (April 17, 2017) – Following requests from nonprofit leaders during this month’s South Carolina Nonprofit Summit, Together SC, with funding from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, is launching Carolina Leadership Seminars, an educational series for the state’s charitable leaders. The first seminar in the multi-part series will begin on April 26 at Sisters of Charity Foundation. The seminars will focus on helping executive directors and emerging leaders manage and operate their organizations. Participants can register to attend webinars or attend in-person seminars. In-person sessions will be held in the education center at Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina located on Middleburg Drive in Columbia.
“During the Nonprofit Summit held in Columbia, we asked attendees what they wanted in terms of support to help run the nonprofits across our state,” explains Madeleine McGee, president of Together SC, formerly South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations. “The two answers we kept receiving over and over were learning opportunities and networking opportunities.”
“With Carolina Leadership Seminars, we’re offering our members the best of both requests. Our goal is for participants to walk away from each session with practical tools and actionable insights that will help further their nonprofit’s mission.”
The Carolina Leadership Seminars will allow participants to engage in discussions with peers within the nonprofit sector regarding the performance of their current organizations and any personal leadership challenges they may be encountering.
There are three different seminars available, including Executive Directors Seminars, Emerging Leaders Seminars, and Leadership “Plenty in 20” Webinars – providing operations and leadership “how-to” information in 20 minutes. All seminars will be designed and led by Charles Weathers and The Weathers Group. Weathers is a consultant based out of Columbia who often speaks around the country about nonprofit leadership, organizational effectiveness and performance improvement.
“We have worked with Charles for years,” said McGee. “He really understands the core issues that are facing nonprofit communities today and how to overcome them. He is a perfect fit for our Carolina Leadership Seminars and what we are hoping to accomplish.”
Registration for the Executive Directors Seminars is open until April 10 and registration for the Emerging Leaders Seminars is open until May 8. Registration for the Leadership “Plenty in 20” Webinars will open in early June. Pricing information and registration for the Carolina Leadership Seminars is available at togethersc.org/CLS.
