Together SC welcomes Henry Well, new CEO of United Way Association of SC.
I am so excited to share with you that I have accepted the Chief Executive Officer position with the United Way Association of South Carolina. In this role, I will lead an amazing team to enhance and expand our 211 services, and our AmeriCorps programs as well as lead our public policy efforts. We all know that we are stronger when we share our expertise, resources, and services. I truly believe the Association is in a perfect spot to help lead our partners to a healthier and more resilient South Carolina.
A University of South Carolina graduate and the 2024 recipient of the James Clyburn Community Leader in Health Equity Award from the Arnold School of Public Health, Henry Well brings over 20 years of nonprofit experience to the organization. Well has served in senior management roles at the National Kidney Foundation and the American Cancer Society. During his tenure as CEO of the South Carolina Cancer Alliance, he led the development, implementation and evaluation of the South Carolina Cancer Plan and more than doubled their staff and income streams.
Furthermore, Well worked with cancer experts statewide to develop the data-driven cancer plan’s goals and objectives and coordinated with dedicated volunteers to design and implement strategies in communities across the state. The tremendous success of the Alliance is attributed to Well’s innate ability to inspire and empower community partners to organize grassroots efforts across the state to reduce the impact of cancer on all South Carolinians.
