Content Requested for Open Call Sessions
Due September 6, 2019
Together SC is pleased to announce our 2020 Summit – Facing Race Together - March 4 -6 in Columbia. Co-chairs, Melanie Huggins of Richland Library and Sherrie Snipes-Williams of Charleston Promise Neighborhood, along with an amazing Program Committee, are designing an immersive learning experience to help nonprofit leaders better understand and tackle issues of race, equity and inclusion (REI) no matter where they are on their journeys.
Our aim is to provide Summit attendees with an opportunity to:
Our plans are still evolving but here is a brief snapshot. The Summit will kick off on Wednesday evening with a keynote address delivered by Dr. Jennifer Eberhardt, a Stanford University professor and the acclaimed author of “Biased.” In addition to two plenary sessions, Thursday and Friday will offer attendees the ability to chart their own Summit experiences. Individuals will pre-select four 90-minute concurrent sessions based on where they are on their REI journey as an individual, an organizational leader or a community leader.
We have identified the following topics as critical areas for our programming. At this time we are seeking dynamic and experienced presenters with expertise in these REI areas. If you would like to facilitate a 90-minute session on one of our listed topics we encourage you to complete the following application by September 6. The Program Committee will meet in September to review submissions. Selected presenters will be notified by October 15. Thank you for your interest in being involved in the 2020 Summit.
If you have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Topic areas that we are seeking:
Please note that these are not all of the topics to be covered at the Summit. In an effort to recruit and include a diverse roster of presenters, we have previously extended invitations to present on other specific topics to certain leaders. We are excited to receive your responses to our open call to engage others.
