SC Campaign Rebrand Announcement

Posted By Administration, Thursday, June 6, 2019
Updated: Wednesday, June 5, 2019

This time of the year is always full of activity – I know many of you are celebrating the end of the school year and possibly graduations, or preparing for a summer trip. It has been a particularly busy time for us too and we are excited to share some great news!

The South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (SC Campaign) is now…Fact Forward.

Over the past 25 years, we have expanded our scope of work and wanted to reflect that shift through a rebranding process. Our new name better reflects everything we do: more than just preventing teen pregnancy, we empower young people with evidence-based strategies for healthy reproductive choices.

The name change gives room for future evolution and growth.

While we continue to celebrate a 70% drop in the teen birth rate since the early 1990s, we face other challenges like rising STI rates and unintended pregnancies among young adults. This gives us an opportunity to consider more creative and effective strategies to engage communities across the state and nation. Our new name provides a strong framework for addressing new challenges today and in the future.

We have a new name but our commitment is still the same.

We still have the same priorities: training people who work with adolescents and promoting policies and initiatives that improve reproductive health outcomes.

We are excited about the state’s continued progress and want to keep moving forward while expanding our reach. We appreciate all the support you have given us over the years and hope we can count on your continued partnership in the years to come! You can reach me at bdesantis@factforward.org with any questions.

SCCLF Receives One of 73 NMTC Allocations

Posted By Administration, Wednesday, June 5, 2019

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) announced last week that South Carolina Community Loan Fund (SCCLF) will receive $20 million in New Markets Tax Credits. The New Markets Tax Credits allocation will spur investment and economic growth in low-income and rural communities across South Carolina. SCCLF is one of only 73 organizations nationwide awarded tax credit allocations through the 2018 New Markets Tax Credit Program (NMTC Program) round.

The $20 million marks SCCLF’s first New Market Tax Credits allocation, and will be used to help finance community development projects and create jobs across South Carolina. SCCLF will work with community organizations, developers, and municipalities to support projects that will serve South Carolina communities in need of investment. SCCLF was the only new awardee in the 2018 NMTC Program Round.

For more information on the NMTC Program and SCCLF’s allocation, contact Brendan Buttimer, Community Development Loan Officer, at brendan@sccommunityloanfund.org

Posted By Administration, Thursday, February 21, 2019

Thanks to the generosity of William L.
