How often should I post on social media?

The most important advice we can give is to pay attention to the interactions / feedback you’re getting with your social chatter across all channels. Every organization has different audience types, needs and habits. For some, it may be that one post a week is sufficient...but for others, keeping more of a conversation going is useful.
Just monitor your analytics. If you see fans dropping away, then it’s likely you’re either boring them, not giving them useful information – or they are being bombarded and annoyed with too much information.
It’s a delicate balance – but the most important factor is to focus on the content rather than the frequency or quantity of posting. If you have a lot of great content to share, then by all means – 2 posts a day on Facebook and several tweets a day is perfect. But don’t strain yourself trying to make up content that will come across as pointless or repetitive.
We do try to make it a goal to post on Facebook at least 2-3 times a week. We also insist every client has a budget allowance for boosting posts or running ads – as the new algorithms prevent a majority of your existing fans from seeing your content without a monetary push. This is a reality we can’t ignore.
You really can’t ‘overdo’ Twitter, as each tweet has such a short lifespan.
For Instagram, 3-5 a week is a good amount – but make sure those posts are actual photos from the moment, and not sales-y at all. Let that really be the behind-the-scenes glimpses of your organization.
